Author Guidelines

1. General Requirements

Journal of Education, Technology and Economics (JETE) welcomes original research articles, review articles, and conceptual papers in the fields of education, technology, engineering, economics, and interdisciplinary studies.

Manuscripts submitted to JETE must meet the following requirements:

  1. The manuscript must be original and must not have been previously published.
  2. The manuscript must not be simultaneously submitted to another journal.
  3. The manuscript must be relevant to the focus and scope of JETE.
  4. Manuscripts may be written in English or Indonesian.
  5. All manuscripts are subject to editorial screening and peer review.
  6. Authors are responsible for the accuracy of all data, statements, citations, and references contained in the manuscript.
  7. Manuscripts must comply with JETE's publication ethics and academic integrity policies.

2. Types of Manuscripts

JETE accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  • Original Research Article – reports the results of empirical or applied research.
  • Review Article – provides a critical and systematic synthesis of relevant previous research.
  • Conceptual Article – discusses theoretical frameworks, models, concepts, or emerging issues relevant to the journal's scope.

3. Manuscript Structure

Research articles should generally contain the following sections:

  1. Title
  2. Author Names and Affiliations
  3. Abstract
  4. Keywords
  5. Introduction
  6. Literature Review / Theoretical Framework
  7. Methods
  8. Results
  9. Discussion
  10. Conclusion
  11. Acknowledgments (if applicable)
  12. Funding Statement (if applicable)
  13. Conflict of Interest Statement
  14. References

The structure may be adjusted for review and conceptual articles according to their methodological and scholarly characteristics.

4. Title

The title should be:

  • Clear, concise, and informative.
  • Relevant to the research topic.
  • Free from unnecessary abbreviations.
  • Preferably no more than 15–20 words.

The title should clearly reflect the main variables, population, context, or contribution of the research.

5. Author Information

The manuscript should include the following information for each author:

  • Full name
  • Institutional affiliation
  • Department or study program, where applicable
  • Institutional address
  • Country
  • Email address of the corresponding author
  • ORCID, if available

All authors listed in the manuscript must have made substantial contributions to the research and must approve the final version of the manuscript.

6. Abstract

The abstract should be written in English and/or Indonesian according to the journal's submission requirements.

The abstract should briefly describe:

  • Background or research problem
  • Research objective
  • Research method
  • Main findings
  • Conclusion and/or implications

The recommended length is 150–250 words.

7. Keywords

Authors should provide 3–5 keywords that represent the main concepts of the manuscript.

Keywords should be specific and relevant to the research. Where possible, authors are encouraged to avoid using terms that are already included in the title.

8. Introduction

The introduction should provide a clear background and rationale for the research. It should include:

  • Research context and problem
  • Relevant previous studies
  • Research gap
  • Research novelty or contribution
  • Research objectives or research questions

The introduction should clearly demonstrate the importance of the research and explain how it contributes to existing knowledge.

9. Literature Review

The literature review should present relevant and recent scholarly sources that support the research framework.

Authors should:

  • Use credible academic references.
  • Prioritize relevant and recent publications.
  • Explain the relationship between previous studies and the current research.
  • Clearly identify the theoretical or conceptual foundation.
  • Avoid excessive citation of irrelevant sources.

10. Methods

The methods section must provide sufficient information to allow readers to understand the research design and, where appropriate, replicate the study.

Depending on the research design, this section may include:

  • Research design
  • Population and sample or participants
  • Research setting
  • Instruments and data sources
  • Data collection procedures
  • Variables or indicators
  • Data analysis techniques
  • Ethical considerations

For qualitative research, authors should clearly explain the research approach, participants or data sources, data collection procedures, and data analysis techniques.

11. Results

The results section should present the research findings clearly, objectively, and systematically.

Tables, figures, graphs, and other visualizations may be used where appropriate. Each table and figure must be numbered consecutively, given an informative title or caption, and referred to in the manuscript.

The results section should not merely repeat information already presented in tables or figures. Authors should highlight the key findings relevant to the research objectives.

12. Discussion

The discussion should interpret the findings and relate them to:

  • Research questions or objectives
  • Relevant theories
  • Previous research
  • Identified research gaps
  • Practical, theoretical, or policy implications

The discussion should explain the significance of the findings rather than simply repeat the results.

13. Conclusion

The conclusion should directly address the research objectives or questions. It should summarize the main findings and present relevant implications.

Recommendations may be included when they are clearly supported by the research findings.

14. Tables and Figures

Tables and figures must:

  • Be numbered consecutively.
  • Have clear and informative titles or captions.
  • Be referred to in the manuscript.
  • Be readable and of appropriate quality.
  • Include sources where applicable.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that copyrighted materials are used appropriately and that permission is obtained when required.

15. References

Authors should use relevant, credible, and up-to-date scholarly references. References should preferably include recent journal articles and primary research sources.

JETE recommends the use of reference management software such as Zotero, Mendeley, or EndNote.

References should follow the APA 7th Edition style unless otherwise specified by the journal.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that:

  • Every source cited in the manuscript appears in the reference list.
  • Every reference listed is cited in the manuscript.
  • Bibliographic information is accurate and complete.
  • DOI information is included where available.

16. Citation and Plagiarism

Authors must properly acknowledge all sources of ideas, data, quotations, figures, and other materials used in the manuscript.

JETE applies plagiarism screening as part of the editorial process. Manuscripts containing substantial plagiarism, duplicate publication, fabricated data, falsified information, or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected.

17. Research Ethics

Research involving human participants, personal data, or other ethically sensitive materials must comply with applicable ethical standards, regulations, and institutional requirements.

Where required, authors should provide information regarding ethical approval and informed consent.

18. Conflict of Interest

Authors must disclose any potential conflict of interest that could influence the research, its interpretation, or the publication process.

If there is no conflict of interest, authors may use the following statement:

The authors declare that there is no conflict of interest related to this research and its publication.

19. Funding Statement

Authors should disclose all sources of financial support for the research.

If the research received no external funding, authors may use the following statement:

This research received no specific external funding.

20. AI-Assisted Tools

Authors who use artificial intelligence (AI) or AI-assisted tools in preparing their manuscripts must use such tools responsibly and transparently.

AI tools must not replace the authors' responsibility for the originality, accuracy, integrity, and scholarly content of the manuscript. AI tools must not be listed as authors.

Authors should disclose the substantial use of AI-assisted tools in accordance with the journal's applicable editorial policy.

21. Submission Process

Manuscripts must be submitted through the JETE Online Journal System (OJS).

Before submission, authors should ensure that the manuscript:

  1. Follows the JETE manuscript template.
  2. Meets the required manuscript structure.
  3. Contains complete and accurate author information.
  4. Includes appropriate citations and references.
  5. Has been checked for plagiarism and language quality.
  6. Does not contain identifying information if a double-blind peer-review process is applied.

22. Peer Review Process

All submitted manuscripts undergo an initial editorial screening to assess:

  • Scope and relevance
  • Originality
  • Manuscript quality
  • Ethical compliance
  • Adherence to the Author Guidelines

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening will be sent to qualified reviewers. JETE may apply a double-blind peer-review system, in which the identities of authors and reviewers are concealed from each other.

The final publication decision is made by the Editor based on the reviewers' recommendations, the editorial assessment, and the overall quality of the manuscript.

23. Revision

Authors may be requested to revise their manuscripts based on editorial and reviewer comments.

Authors should submit:

  • The revised manuscript.
  • A response to reviewers' comments, when requested.
  • Clear identification or explanation of major revisions, where appropriate.

Revisions should be submitted within the deadline specified by the editorial team.

24. Article Processing Charge (APC)

JETE currently does not charge authors any submission fee, peer-review fee, or Article Processing Charge (APC). All publication services are provided free of charge to authors.

Any future changes to the journal's author fee policy will be announced transparently through the journal's official website. Authors will not be charged any fee that has not been publicly disclosed by JETE.

25. Copyright and License

Authors retain appropriate rights to their work in accordance with the copyright and licensing policy adopted by JETE.

By submitting a manuscript, authors confirm that they have the right to publish the submitted work and that the manuscript does not infringe upon the copyright or intellectual property rights of others.

Authors are responsible for obtaining permission to reproduce copyrighted materials when required.
